On June 19, Ambassador Monika Simonyan met with Mr. Kono Taro, Director of the International Bureau of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (LDP).

The meeting focused on issues related to the activation of inter-parliamentary relations between Armenia and Japan, the establishment of effective cooperation, and the promotion of mutual visits.
The parties exchanged views on opportunities and steps aimed at promoting Armenian-Japanese economic ties.

Ambassador Simonyan also presented the main components of the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” project and the Armenian government’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative, touching upon Armenia’s approaches to institutionalizing peace in the region.

In 2018, Mr. Kono visited Armenia in his capacity as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and his efforts also led to the opening of the first “TUMO” center in Asia in Gunma Prefecture, Japan
