Delegation Headed by Mr. Seishiro Eto, President of the Japan-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Visited Armenia

A delegation the Japan-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship League headed by its President Mr. Seishiro Eto, member of the House of Representatives in the Japanese National Diet and former vice-speaker, made a three-day trip to Armenia from August 31, 2016. The delegation included Mr. Takeaki Matsumoto, member of the House of Representatives, Vice-President (former President) of the Friendship League, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Shunichi Suzuki, member of the House of Representatives, Secretary General of the Friendship League, former Minister of the Environment.

At the meeting with the members of the Armenia-Japan Friendship Group in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, the two groups discussed issues of common interest, and emphasized that the Armenia-Japan relations are developing in the spirit of friendship and mutual trust. After the meeting, Mr. Samvel Farmanyan, the President of the Armenia-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group, and Mr. Seishiro Eto signed a joint declaration on behalf of the two parliamentarian friendship groups. The Japanese delegation was also received by the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Mr. Galust Sahakyan.

After attending the meetings and events organized in the National Assembly of Armenia, the members of the delegation were received by President Serzh Sargsyan.

During the visit, the Japanese delegation also had meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Holy See of Mother Etchmiadzin. The delegation also visited the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies, Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran), Komitas Museum, Yerevan Brandy Company, and other sites.
