 On October 10, 2013 the Minamata Convention on Mercury was signed in Kumamoto city, Japan.

The Convention has been signed by 91 countries and the European Union. On behalf of Armenia the convention was signed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Japan Dr. Grant Pogosyan. The Minamata Convention on Mercury will enter into force after it is ratified by 50 countries.
