Ambassador Grant Pogosyan Participated in UNESCAP Meeting in Laos

On March 5-7, as an envoy of the Republic of Armenia, Ambassador Grant Pogosyan participated in the “Final Regional Review of the Almaty Programme of Action for the Landlocked Developing Countries” meeting in Vientiane, Lao Peoples Democratic Republic (PDR).

The meeting was jointly organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), Office of High Representative for LDCs, LLDCs and SIDS (OHRLLS) and the Government of the Lao PDR.

The goal of the final regional review of the Almaty Programme of Action for the landlocked developing countries was to discuss the progress made under the Programme, the issues concerning cooperation between the landlocked and transit countries, to address the special needs for the landlocked developing countries and to set the timeline for the implementation of the Programme.

The meeting produced the so-called “Vientiane Consensus” – an outcome document which will be presented at the next UNESCAP session to be held in Bangkok on April 29 – May 1, this year.
