Event Dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of Armenia's Independence

On September 21, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Japan organized an official reception at Hotel Okura, Tokyo, to mark the 25th anniversary of Armenia's independence.

At the outset of the reception, Dr. Grant Pogosyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Japan welcomed the guests with a message about the achievements and the prospects of country's development. In the context of this symbolic date for the Republic of Armenia, Ambassador Pogosyan stressed the friendly relations existing all these years between Armenia and Japan, a symbol of became the "Friendship Khachkar" stone monument erected on September 16 in a Tokyo downtown park. The Ambassador expressed confidence that the initiatives and visits carried out recently will contribute in deeper cooperation between Armenia and Japan.

In his commending speech Mr. Shunichi Suzuki, Secretary-General of the Japan-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship League, mentioned about his recent trip to Armenia as a member of the delegation headed by Mr. Seishiro Eto, the President of the League. He stressed the beneficial meetings in Armenia and the importance of further developing the bilateral ties.

Mr. Yasumine Satake, the President of the Japan-Armenia Business and Culture Initiative, also delivered a congratulatory address to the leadership of the Republic of Armenia, the Armenian people, and the guests. He talked about the Initiative's activities aimed at developing the collaboration in business and cultural levels.

Around 300 guests – representatives of the Japanese National Diet, the Cabinet, and other state institutions, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Japan, diplomats, members of the Japan-Armenia Business and Culture Initiative, the Japan-Armenia Association, the Japan-Armenia Friendship Association, businessmen, artists, journalists, and representatives of the Armenian community in Japan – attended the reception.
