Event in Tokyo dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide

Armenian Embassy in Japan in collaboration with Mr. Hisayoshi Inoue, Japanese musician and conductor, has organized two concerts of the pianist and composer Karen Hakobyan in Tokyo, dedicated to the Centennial Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide.

On August 22, the pianist performed with the Mahler Festival Orchestra Japan (conductor Hisayoshi Inoue) at the Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall of Tokyo. Compositions by Aram Khachaturian and Gustav Mahler were performed at the concert.

On August 25, Karen Hakobyan’s piano recital concert took place in the Lutheran Ichigaya Hall, Tokyo. The program included pieces by Komitas, Aram Khachaturian, Arno Babajanian, as well as by several European composers. For the first time, the pianist performed his composition dedicated to the Armenian Genocide.
