Political Consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Japan

Political consultations were held between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Japan, led by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Mr. Sergey Manasarian and the Deputy Director General of the European Affairs Bureau, Special Representative of the Foreign Ministry of Japan for Caucasus and GUAM, Ambassador Takeshi Hikihara on February 1, 2013 in Yerevan.

The two sides discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, particularly reflecting upon the sustained pace of political dialogue between Japan and Armenia, maintaining active cooperation in international organizations, boosting economic collaboration and enhancing the scope of legal agreements. The sides also discussed a number of international and regional issues. The importance of cultural and educational exchanges between Armenia and Japan was also stressed.

The Armenian side presented its approaches and concepts on the resolution process and peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh issue.

On the same day, the Armenian Foreign Minister - Mr. Edward Nalbandian, received Ambassador Takeshi Hikihara, head of the Japanese delegation.
