“Komitas Music Society of Japan” was established on September 26, 2015 – Komitas’s birthday – in commemoration of the Armenian Genocide’s centennial. The primary goal of the society is to study and perform Komitas’s musical heritage, and to raise awareness of the Armenian music in Japan. The society’s academic and performing activities will further promote cultural ties between Armenia and Japan in the field of music.
